Doctors & Staff
Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Santa Fe Springs Optometry a proud provider of vision care products and services in Santa Fe Springs.
Manuel Gonzalez, O.D.
For over 40 years, Dr. Gonzalez has been serving the vision needs of his community. He obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree from UC Berkeley after completing a bachelor’s degree at Stanford University in Human Biology.
He is passionate about providing clear vision through the careful fitting of glasses and contact lenses but is also skilled at fitting rigid contact lenses for patients with irregular corneas, co-managing LASIK surgery, and managing eye diseases like glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Gonzalez has fixed the vision of tens of thousands of his patients of all ages over the last 40 years and enjoys helping more every day.
In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his three children, and taking care of his new grandson with his wife Debbie, whom they love babysitting every “Bens-day.”
Maria Esthe Salado, O.D., FAAO
Dr. Maria Esther Salado completed her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University. Prior to that, she attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology. Her clinical externships focused on primary care, ocular disease, and specialty training in low vision. She completed her residency at VA Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center and Nursing Home getting additional training in ocular disease and geriatric care.
She is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is a past president of the Rio Hondo Optometric Society. She has volunteered her time doing local vision screenings and was recently awarded Young Optometrist of the Year by the California Optometric Association.
She is fluent in Spanish and in her free time enjoys going to Disneyland with her husband and daughter.
Andrew Sprenkel, O.D., FAAO
Dr. Sprenkel started his journey to optometry as a grateful patient. Seeing for the first time the exquisite details of the Sierra Mountains looming over the sleepy foothill town in which he was raised completely changed the way he viewed the world. He then began his journey to optometry by completing a bachelor’s degree in psychobiology at UCLA. He went on to achieve his dream of becoming an optometrist, graduating from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2021, followed by a residency at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Long Beach.
His training includes primary care optometry, low vision, geriatric vision care, traumatic brain injury/binocular vision disorders, and specialty contact lenses. Dr. Sprenkel is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, focusing on diseases of the retina, and sits on the board of the Rio Hondo Optometry Society.
When not at the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, friends and family camping, hiking, riding motorcycles, running, playing the tuba, or practicing meditation.
